OCTOBER 8, 1923 – APRIL 30, 2023

Passed away peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in her 100th year.

The beloved wife of Vardon Marshall Hussey, who predeceased her in 2009, leaving a legacy of love, companionship, and many happy memories of 64 years. Lovingly remembered by son Donald (Cindy) of Aberfoyle, and daughter Betty Dettwiler (Cliff) of St. Clements. She was a dear Grandma to April, Chad and great-granddaughter Grace. Step-grandma to Troy, Tiffany and Nathan Dettwiler. Predeceased by three sisters, Bertha Burgess, Phylis McMahon, Vera Purdy, and brother Elton Hallman. She was the much loved and devoted daughter of the late Nelson and Carrie (Grieve) Hallman.

A member of Central Presbyterian Church since 1954, Mom was always a willing supporter, and never failed to respond to any needs, whether baking, the nursery, or the Auxiliary. Due to failing mobility and deafness, she could no longer attend services, however she continued to enjoy the connection to her church through the newsletter and cards, and the family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Evelyn Gordon, who kept in touch with her visits and updates. Words cannot express our gratitude to the wonderful staff of Fairview Mennonite Home for their patience and care in her final years.

A private family graveside service will be held at Roseville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, brother, parents, and mother and father in law, George and Ina Hussey.

Mom was very proud of her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage, and loved flowers. If you so wish, donations in Mom’s name would be appreciated to the Dettweiler Meeting House in Roseville or Central Presbyterian Church Cambridge Flower Guild (cards available at the funeral home).
