JANUARY 21, 1939 – MAY 6, 2023

Passed away on May 6, 2023 at the age of 84 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Beloved son of the late Gladys (Howes) and Edwin Schreiber. Loving brother of Lorne (Una) Schreiber of Cambridge, Clare (Alison) Schreiber of Guelph, David (Vivien) Schreiber of Toronto, Marie (Ken) McLean of Sherbrooke Quebec, and Doris Schreiber of Waterloo. Proud uncle of Angela Evans-Kim and Mark Evans, Scott and Katie Schreiber, Patrick, Tim and James McLean and 10 great grandnieces and nephews. A good friend to many. Roy worked for Scott Shoe, Newlands and Tiger Brand and took pride in his work.

He loved children and volunteered for junior baseball and hockey. Theatre was Roy's passion, and he volunteered for over 60 years with the Galt Little Theatre, receiving numerous awards for his creativity and technical skill with the lighting. The awards he received praised his "magical lighting effects" and "evocative mood settings". He introduced many young interns to the joy of contributing to a production through imaginative lighting. He enjoyed camping at Lost Forest Park and his campfires were the place where all his friends spent the evening. Roy enjoyed many years socializing with his friends at the South Waterloo Naval Veterans Association in Cambridge.

A memorial service will be held at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on June 8, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow at the Navy Vets Club, 30 Cambridge St., Cambridge, on June 8, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to South Waterloo Naval Veterans Association (SWNVA) would be appreciated by the family and may be shared through the funeral home at www.couttsfuneralhome.com.
