It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Robbie) Zikic in his 54th year. Robbie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew him.

Robbie is survived by his daughter, Sabrina Zikic, his brother, Boban Zikic (Jackie), sisters, Lidija Zikic (Michael) and Amelija Zikic. Predeceased by his father, Velimir Zikic, and his mother, Radmila Gonzalez (José).

Beloved uncle to Jessica, Kayla (David), Danielle (Kyle), Lindsay (James), Cody, Ally (Spencer), Britney (Ethan), Alanna (Javan), Hannah and Autumn. Greatly missed by cousins, Robert Panava and Sasha Gajic and his many great nieces and nephews.

Robbie was the youngest child born to his parents, Velimir and Radmila, and was proudly their first child born in Canada after immigrating from Yugoslavia. He maintained his second language, Serbian, especially when speaking with his cherished Mama who was the light of his life.

Known affectionately as “Iso” by his friends, Robbie will be exceptionally missed by his best friend Mike Aguiar, along with his many other friends who were truly like family to him. Robbie's presence illuminated every room he entered, his quick humor, witty jokes and infectious laughter left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him.

Robbie was a sports fanatic. He loved watching football, hockey, soccer, tennis, and horse racing. As a young man, he worked as an exercise rider at the Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto where he would warm up thoroughbred horses before their races. He also was an avid poker player and would relish in the excitement of playing in, and often winning, local poker tournaments and games.

Although he enjoyed many activities, everyone knows his true passion was fishing. Robbie was an expert fisherman, starting at a very young age. He spent his summers as a child fishing and camping with his family on the Trent-Severn in Peterborough. He enjoyed fishing Duffins Creek in Pickering and later the Grand River in Cambridge, his home for over 20 years. He loved to share his passion and was always eager to teach others.

Robbie worked as a general machinist for over 35 years. He apprenticed in Toronto at the same company as his older brother, Bob, who acted as a mentor to Robbie in many aspects of life, including machining.

Robbie was an honest, hardworking man and to know him was to love him. He will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will be received at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, N., Cambridge on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 5 pm – 8 pm.  Please join us to share your loving memories of Robbie.
