Cambridge couple arrested on drug charges at traffic stop

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Neighbourhood Policing South Division arrested two individuals after a traffic stop in Cambridge. 

On March 13, 2023, at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Johnston Avenue. 

Through the initial investigation, police arrested the driver and the passenger for several offences. 

Police seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and Canadian currency. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old Cambridge female, was charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and use plates not authorized. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 28, 2023.

The passenger, a 42-year-old Cambridge male, was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking (two counts), obstruct police officer, and fail to comply with release order. The male was also wanted on several outstanding warrants with WRPS and was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
