Cambridge man arrested after alleged Jan. 2 sexual assault

Police have charged a 24-year-old Cambridge man in connection to a sexual assault that happened inside a store in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Main Street last week.

On Jan. 2, at around 10:10 a.m., Waterloo regional police said they received a report of a sexual assault at the store in which the female victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

On Jan. 7, an off-duty WRPS officer observed the suspect involved in this incident in the area of Elgin Street North and Avenue Road.

Officers from WRPS’ Neighbourhood Policing South Division located the man and placed him under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, he was charged with sexual assault.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 20.
