Cambridge man charged after police seize firearm parts made by 3D printer

Police seized 3D printer handgun receivers and handgun parts as well as other prohibited devices and a prohibited weapon.

A 32-year-old Cambridge man is facing several charges in relation to a police investigation into firearms parts manufactured by a 3D printer.

On Feb. 5, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Services’ Drugs and Firearms Unit completed a search warrant at a Cambridge home. 

As a result of the warrant, police seized various 3D printer handgun receivers and other handgun parts, along with several prohibited devices and a prohibited weapon.

As a result of the investigation, police charged the man with:

  • possession of a prohibited weapon
  • unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • possession of a prohibited device
  • possession computer data (related to 3D printed firearms)
  • manufacturing a firearm

He is scheduled to appear in court for March of 2024. There are no public safety concerns.
