Cambridge man charged with murder in connection with Hespeler homicide

The Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime Unit has charged a 57-year-old Cambridge man with second degree murder in connection with a homicide that occurred in the Silverheights neighbourhood of Hespeler last week.

Police responded to a residence on Fletcher Circle at approximately 9:25 p.m. on Jan. 25 for a wellbeing check.

Upon arrival, a deceased a 61-year-old woman was located inside and a man was taken into custody.

The man has since been charged with one count of second degree murder and remains in custody.

The involved individuals are believed to be known to one another.

The WRPS investigation is ongoing.
