Brampton police have arrested and charged three people, including a Cambridge man, in relation to two Brampton shooting incidents believed to be linked.
Police allege an altercation occurred between two groups of people outside a residence in the area of Dixie Road and Moregate Crescent in Brampton on March 30 when a firearm was discharged. The suspects fled the area in a silver BMW sedan.
Two victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One was treated at a hospital, and the other at the scene.
On June 15, at 6:20 p.m., police say a second altercation occurred between two groups of people in the area of Williams Parkway and Pertosa Drive in Brampton when a firearm was discharged. The suspects fled the area in a silver BMW sedan.
Two victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One was treated at a hospital, and the other at the scene.
Investigators believe that both of these were targeted incidents.
On June 17, police executed a search warrant at a Brampton residence that resulted in the seizure of a Remington sawed-off shotgun.
As a result of the search, police charged a 24-year-old man from Brampton with:
- Robbery
- Attempt murder using firearm (X5)
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Possession for the purpose
He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A 19-year-old man from Brampton, is also charged with the following offences:
- Robbery
- Attempt murder using firearm (X5)
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm (X2)
- Discharge firearm with intent (X2)
- Careless cse of firearm (X2)
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Aggravated assault
- Mischief over $5,000
- Mischief under $5,000
He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Police also charged a 26-year-old man from Cambridge with four counts of attempted murder using a firearm.
