Fentanyl found by police after male passes out behind wheel of car

The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Neighbourhood Policing North Division has laid several criminal charges following an impaired driving investigation. 

On Oct. 2, 2021, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers responded to the area of Albert Street and Weber Street in Waterloo after receiving a report of a male passed out in a running vehicle.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and make an arrest.

Through investigation, it was determined that the vehicle being operated had been reported stolen. The male was also found to be in possession of a significant amount of fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Cambridge male is facing several criminal charges including, impaired operation of a conveyance, possession of stolen property under $5000, theft over $5000, possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

There were five other impaired driving-related investigations that resulted in charges across the Region of Waterloo over the weekend.
