Five arrested in connection to six-month drug investigation

Police seize 13 kg of drugs after six search warrants executed across Waterloo Region

Waterloo Regional Police have seized 13 kilograms of drugs and arrested five individuals in connection to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

The six-month-long investigation was led by WRPS’ Intelligence Services Division and resulted in six search warrants being completed across Waterloo Region.

On March 5, 2024, the Intelligence Services Division, with assistance from WRPS’ Emergency Response and Direct Action Response Teams, and Guelph Police Service’s Tactical Response Unit, completed search warrants at residences in Kitchener and Cambridge.

As a result of the investigation, police seized 13 kilograms of drugs, including suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.

Five men, a 36-year-old, a 29-year-old, and two 25-year-olds, all from Kitchener, and a 26-year-old from Cambridge, were arrested on March 5, and are facing over 35 criminal charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking, possession of stolen goods over $5,000, and possession of stolen goods under $5,000.

All five accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.

WRPS says the investigation was made possible through funding provided by the Government of Ontario, Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario.
