Four teen suspects sought after kayaker seriously injured

Police are investigating what they are describing as an assault in Cambridge in which a kayaker was struck by an object and seriously injured while kayaking under a bridge.

Waterloo Regional Police said the incident took place on Aug. 31 at around 1:40 p.m.

The victim was kayaking under a railway bridge in the Galt area of Cambridge when he was struck on the leg by a railway tie, police said in a news release.

"A brief verbal altercation between the victim and four unknown individuals on the bridge above ensued and the group on the bridge left the area," police said.

Police are seeking to identify and speak with the individuals present on the railway bridge at the time of the incident.

They are described as four white teenage males, two of whom were wearing black hoodies and two wearing red hoodies.

The victim, a 50-year-old Cambridge male, sustained a serious injury to his leg, according to police.
