Impaired Cambridge driver backs into parked police cruiser

Police have charged a 47-year-old Cambridge woman with impaired driving and dangerous operation after she backed into a cruiser blocking her escape in a parking lot in the area of Pinebush and Hespeler roads on Sunday.

Waterloo Regional Police Service was called to the area shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possible impaired driver.

Officers located a white Toyota being driven in a parking lot and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver then reversed into a stationary, fully-marked Waterloo Regional Police Service vehicle.

The driver was subsequently arrested without incident by police.

She was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration and dangerous operation.

No physical injuries were sustained as a result of this incident.
