Knife-wielding man arrested in west Galt

A 25-year-old man is facing multiple charges after waving a knife and uttering threats in a west Galt neighbourhood.

On Sept. 19, around 11 a.m., police responded to the area of Brant Place and Blenheim Road after receiving reports of a man throwing rocks at people walking in the area and at a residence. 

When confronted, the man waved a knife around and uttered threats.

Upon arrival, police located the male at the intersection of Blair Road and Blenheim Road and, through investigation, placed him under arrest. A large knife was also seized.

A vehicle was damaged by the rocks. No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.

As a result of the investigation, the man was charged with assault with a weapon (three counts), uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (two counts), mischief under $5,000, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
