Cambridge woman arrested with man wanted on Canada-wide warrant

During the arrest by Kirkland Lake OPP, police seized an estimated $16,700 in drugs and cash

A person wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested by Kirkland Lake OPP.

Drugs, cash, a banned weapon and more were seized during the July 25 arrest, says police. 

During the arrest, police seized suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, cannabis, hydromorphone, morphine, cocaine, Canadian money, and a prohibited weapon. The seizure has an estimated street value of $16,700.

Scott Bakker, 33, of Toronto was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. He is charged with:

  • 2 counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine 
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Carrying a concealed weapon 

A 30-year-old Cambridge woman is also charged with:

  • 2 counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

Both of the accused are in police custody and will appear in court at a later date.

The effort to locate and arrest the suspects included Kirkland Lake OPP, the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, Kirkland Lake OPP Crime Unit and the Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
