Police issue warning as Cambridge auto shop break-ins continue

Waterloo Regional Police continue to seek the public's assistance in locating a suspect now wanted in connection to more than 30 break-and-enter incidents that have continued since the suspect was first identified. 

Adam Taplin, 33, is wanted on a warrant for 33 commercial break-and-enters in Cambridge between June 26 and July 31, police said.

Police encouraged businesses to contact police if they receive an alarm notification. They also urged auto-shop operators to secure their gates and doors, and have good lighting and cameras installed.

Police said in one incident, on July 10 at approximately 3 a.m., an individual broke into an auto shop in the area of Industrial Road and Bishop Street North. Access to the business was gained by smashing a window and cash was stolen.

In another incident, on June 29 at around 3:20 a.m., police responded to an alarm at an auto shop on Eagle Street North. Police determined that an individual had gained access to the business by cutting a fence and smashing a window. Cash was also stolen in this incident.

Taplin is described as 5’6” tall, approximately 150 lbs., with light brown hair, and a tattoo on his right upper arm.
