Police have charged a 23-year old Cambridge driver after responding to a multi-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon at Franklin Boulevard and Saginaw Parkway.

On October 15, 2023, at approximately 3 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of the collision and determined the driver of a grey Audi travelling south on Franklin Boulevard made a left turn onto Saginaw Parkway.

The Audi was struck by a Hyundai SUV heading north through the intersection. The force of this collision caused both involved vehicles to spin and strike three other vehicles that were stopped on Saginaw Parkway.

The drivers and passengers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old Cambridge male, was charged with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm under the Highway Traffic Act. He was also issued a three-day licence suspension after registering an alert on an approved screening device.

Area roadways were closed for several hours for the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have information or dash-cam footage of the incident is asked to call the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit at 519-570-9777, extension 8856.
