Waterloo Regional Police are looking for the driver of a stolen vehicle last seen fleeing along Maple Grove Road towards Hespeler Road.

Police were originally called out to respond to a theft at a business near Gateway Park Drive and Tu-Lane Street in Kitchener.

When officers arrived at around 10:40 a.m. Sunday, June 25, their suspect was trying to leave the parking lot in a white GMC Denali 3500.

"Officers blocked the vehicle with police cruisers in an attempt to arrest the male subject and prevent him from fleeing in the vehicle," said police in a news release.

"The suspect then rammed one of the police cruisers with the GMC and drove away toward Sportsworld Drive. Another officer in the area observed the vehicle and initiated a suspect apprehension pursuit."

Police followed the vehicle along Maple Grove Road where they say they saw it run a red light at Saltsman Drive as it continued towards Hespeler Road.

"The pursuit was discontinued at this time due to the dangerous driving exhibited by the suspect vehicle and the risk posed to public safety." police stated.

Although investigators were able to determine that the vehicle had been reported stolen to Peel Regional Police on June 10.

No one was hurt and the damaged police cruiser has been removed from service.

The suspect is described as a Southeast Asian male, around 30 years old, 6 feet 1, with a medium build.

The vehicle is described as a white 2023 GMC Denali 3500, crew cab, with dual rear wheels and a stinger attached under the rear bumper. Its passenger side doors were damaged.
