Three people charged after stolen vehicle located in Cambridge

Police say the vehicle, left running and unattended, was reported stolen from a driveway in the area of Elliott and East Streets

Waterloo Regional Police’s Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft (BEVT) team has arrested three individuals in connection to a Cambridge stolen vehicle investigation.

On the morning of March 14, a Honda CRV was stolen from a driveway in the area of Elliott and East Streets. The vehicle was left running and unattended.

Later that day, at approximately 11:25 a.m., officers from South Division saw the stolen vehicle driven on Hespeler Road. Upon seeing police, the driver drove the vehicle over a median and fled the area at high speed. Due to public safety concerns, a pursuit was not initiated.

The vehicle was located again at approximately 12:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the area of Beverly Street and Kerr Street. Investigators from the BEVT team subsequently arrested three individuals who were located in the stolen CRV.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old male, a 33-year-old male and a 35-year-old female, all from Cambridge, were jointly charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The 33-year-old male was also charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of the stolen property under $5,000, and dangerous operation. He was also arrested on the strength of eight outstanding warrants for the following charges:

  • Theft of motor vehicle (two counts)
  • Possession of stolen goods over $5,000 (three counts)
  • Possession of stolen goods under $5,000 (three counts)
  • Use of plates not authorized for motor vehicle
  • Theft under $5,000 (shoplifting)
  • Breach of probation
  • Drive while under suspension (two counts)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from police
  • Possess credit card (two counts)
  • Possession of identity document
