Two arrested in stolen vehicle

Waterloo Regional Police Service officers arrested a male and a female and seized suspected fentanyl after locating a stolen motor vehicle in Cambridge.

On March 20, 2024, South Division officers on proactive patrol located a stolen motor vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the area of Queen Street West and Adam Street. Shortly before 6:30 p.m., a male and a female were observed entering the stolen motor vehicle and were placed under arrest by members of WRPS’ Direct Action Response Team (DART).

During the investigation, officers located and seized approximately 30 grams of suspected fentanyl. 

As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old Cambridge male was charged with operation while prohibited and possession for the purpose of trafficking. A 29-year-old female, also from Cambridge, was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance and arrested on outstanding warrants for multiple weapons and theft-related charges. The male and female were jointly charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
