A 61-year-old woman was found dead Thursday night at a home in Hespeler and a 57-year-old man at the same address has been taken into custody.

Waterloo regional police responded to a home on Fletcher Circle, in the Silverheights neighbourhood, for a wellbeing check around 9:25 p.m.

Upon arrival, they located the deceased woman at the address.

A man at the residence was also located at the address and taken into police custody.

The involved individuals are believed to be known to one another, and there are no concerns for public safety.

Neighbours in the area were reluctant to speak with CambridgeToday and appeared visibly upset by the events that took place the night before.

The homicide investigation is ongoing by members of our Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit.
