Community organizations will be putting on demonstrations and seminars to showcase services and programs.

Those 50 years of age and older will be welcomed to the Hespeler Memorial Arena for the city's 50+ active living fair on Nov. 9.

Put on by the Cambridge 50+ Recreation Centres in partnership with the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario, the free event provides an opportunity for residents to better understand the programs and services available to them.

It also serves as a way to gain knowledge on healthy aging and lifestyles, while recognizing the contributions of older adults.

Live demonstrations, exhibitors and seminars will be available with the goal of empowering people to take an active role in their quality of life.

The Cambridge and North Dumfries Ontario Health Team, Cambridge Food Bank Mobile Market, Grant River Transit and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging are four of many organizations scheduled to be on hand to provide information.

The City of Cambridge has put a renewed emphasis on improving and assisting the older population, including through its older adult survey and strategy. The strategy is in the final stages of development with a report set to be released in the winter of 2024.

The active living fair begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m. Parking is free and snacks are provided.
