Region of Waterloo Public Health has declared a COVID outbreak in a cohort of students at Parkway Public School after two students tested positive for the illness last week.

On Saturday, a public health investigation determined that a case reported in the same cohort earlier in week had an epidemiological link to another student case.

No additional staff or students are required to isolate. Public health has completed their assessment and no further close contacts have been identified.

The school notes the outbreak is related to a specific cohort only. It is not a school-wide outbreak.

A third student case, also reported Saturday, is not part of the outbreak and no close contacts at the school were identified.

The Waterloo Region District School Board says facilities services will continue to thoroughly clean the building, paying attention to common areas and touch points in accordance with Public Health guidance and recommendations.
