Plaza on Holiday Inn Drive getting a makeover, new tenants

Old Treasure Hunt being torn down to make way for a new fast food restaurant, a cannabis dispensary and more

The Tri-City Centre plaza at 150 Holiday Inn Dr. is getting a bit of a makeover.

The plaza is currently anchored by Sail and shadow-anchored by Zehrs.

The most notable change is the relocation of the Treasure Hunt, which has been in the plaza for a number of years has moved down the lot right next to Crunch Finess and Sail, the outdoor sports store. The new store will be open Thursday, March 24.

The original building for Treasure Hunt will be demolished to make way for five new units at the back of the lot. All but one of these have been leased.

There is also a new cannabis dispensary being built called Value Buds Cannabis.

This is the city's 18th cannabis dispensary to open or enter the application stage according to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

At the front of the plaza a new Wendy's is currently under construction. This would make it the third fast-food restaurant in the plaza.

There is another proposed building at the far west end of the plaza that is being prepped for construction.

Kitchener contractor Gateman-Milloy is renovating the plaza.
