It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Stan on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener in his 90th year.

Beloved husband of Helen Lukach Allen with whom he married July 26, 2014. Loving step-father to Sue (Bob Lyttle), Frank Lukach (Diane) and Teresa (Frank Wynen). Also survived by his grandchildren, step-granchildren, step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Leona Sansome. Predeceased by his father Francis (Frank) Allen, mother Eileen (nee Doyle) Allen, sisters; Evelyn Beke, Eileen (Dolly) Quigg and baby girl in infancy, brothers; James (Jim) Allen, Donald (Don) Allen, and son Robert (Bobby) Allen.

Stan completed his grade 10 at Guelph Collegiate (GCVI). After leaving high school he joined the cadets. He entered the reserves in Petawawa around 1950 and worked his way up to become a gun sergeant and was trained in hand to hand combat and self-defense. He began his employment delivering bread for a bakery, than operated a rug and dry cleaning business in Cambridge (Galt). He worked for Federal Wire in Waterloo and eventually became a Millwright with BF Goodyear/Uniroyal/Michelin where he would work for 16 years until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed going to Haiti where he would take sewing machines, school supplies, clothes, towels, shawls, toiletries and candy. He paid to have a trench dug from a nearby clean lake so the women didn’t have to travel miles to get clean water. He loved cars especially Studebakers and German Shepherd dogs. He invented a game about cars called Motor Memories. He was a member of the Pioneer Gun Club, in Kitchener. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting coins, paper currency and stamps. He loved playing his harmonica at the senior center and at various senior homes and was in many senior talent competitions. He had a very kind heart and would lend a helping hand to anyone in time of need.

A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s, Cambridge Memorial and Freeport Hospitals for the wonderful care and support.
