FEBRUARY 9, 1925 – JANUARY 28, 2022
Peter Gordon Hallman passed away on January 28, 2022 at St. Luke’s Place Retirement Home in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Marjorie (nee Bean) for 71 years. Loving father of Wendy, Mark (Kelly), John (Joanne), and Heather (John). Proud grandfather of Matthew, Alyssa, Luke, Rachel, Adyn, Riley, Quinn, Carson and great-granddaughter Eva.
Peter was born on a farm outside of Plattsville. He trained to be a teacher at Stratford Normal School and enlisted in the Navy in 1944. After the war ended, he enrolled at Western University and graduated with a B.A. in Business. Peter and Marjorie were married on a cold December day in 1950. Peter worked in the insurance field in Windsor, then moved his family to Galt in 1961 and started his business, Peter G. Hallman Insurance Agency.
For many years, Peter gave back to the community as a member of Kiwanis, Probus, and the Galt Civic Service Club. Peter was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. He loved music and played the piano for the residents of many retirement homes in the area. Peter sang in the choir at Lincoln Avenue United Church and enjoyed participating in their annual variety show. He also loved travelling and took his family on many trips in their camper van.
A private gathering will be held by his family at a later date.
