Robert William "Bob" Slater, passed away with his wife Rita by his side on Friday January 7, 2022 at the age of 77.
Beloved husband of Rita, with whom he shared 59 years, and celebrated 53 years of marriage. Father of Sheryl (Derek) and Merica (Geoff), and grandfather of 7. Bob is survived by his siblings, Marilyn, Betty, Tom (Karen), and Terri (Barkley), and fondly remembered by his nephews, Scott (Kayla) and Jeff (Victoria). Bob's passion was drag racing - A precision machinist, Bob was among the Top 10 in NHRA Stock Eliminator 2 years in a row, three time track points champion at Cayuga Dragway, Toronto International Dragway and Lancaster Speedway in New York. Bob was inducted into the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2017. Cremation has taken place. For those who wish, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
