In his 86th year, Richard “Dick” Patrick Stoyles, hard worker and beloved Newfoundlander, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, May 31st, surrounded by his children after some years of declining health.

He is survived by his four beloved children, Diane , Michelle, Rick (Morgan), and Sean (Jacqui), his grand-children Jodi (Christopher), Glenn (Jackie), Rick, Celine, Kiel (Megan), Kiefer (Amanda), and Keagan, and his great grand-children, Kobe, Carter, Lincoln, Presley, Hayden, and Dominik. Dick will be dearly missed by his furry canine companions Toby and Abby.

He is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Mary Hammond, his siblings Kevin, Gordon, Gregory, and Elizabeth, and his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth. The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude for the support and companionship offered by Cynthia Stoyles. Dick was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grand-father, who dedicated his life to his family business, and to serving the Cambridge and Newfoundland communities as founder of the Cambridge Newfoundland Club. Dick will be remembered for his fierce independence, endless generosity, and “Cod-Father” status as founder and owner of Stoyles Fish and Chips, which proudly served the Cambridge community. To many of his customers, he was both the heart and pillar of the local Newfoundland community. Dick assisted many Newfoundlanders in their relocation to Ontario by helping them with housing and employment. To the end, Dick Stoyles’ generosity knew no bounds as he proudly believed in giving back to the people and the community which supported him for 54 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick’s memory to the St. Mary’s Cardiac Care Unit, and can be arranged by contacting the T. Little Funeral Home, Cambridge, ON (519)623-1290.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held, but can be viewed via Livestream at 10am Friday, June 4th at www.tlittlefuneralhome.com
