Passed away peacefully in her 98th year on February 27, 2023 in Kitchener.
Virginia was the beloved wife of Harry who predeceased her in 1994, mother of Susan Collins (Edward), grandmother of Andrew (Leeana) and Tara (Ross) and great grandmother of Emmy and Jude. Survived by her sisters Margaret Pagett (Bob) and Isobel Spain (Bill predeceased) and sisters-in-law Joan Wiley and Shirley Garraway. Predeceased by her brothers George Kirkorian and Dick Kirkorian, brothers-in-law Jim Garraway, Bill Spain and Bill Garraway. Loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a fiercely independent woman who was proud of living on her own until the last couple of years of her life. She was a story teller with charming stories of years past and times spent with her grandchildren. Virginia also enjoyed travelling with Harry, her sisters and their spouses and with her daughter Susan and relished celebrating special occasions with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Her family are forever grateful for the care provided by the staff at Chartwell Westmount Retirement residence, the doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital and especially the loving nurses in the Grand River Freeport Palliative Care unit.
A private funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church in Preston. Interment will be at Parklawn Cemetery, next to Harry.
