APRIL 30, 1966 – APRIL 16, 2024
Drew Richard Martin, age 57, of Preston, Ontario, suddenly passed away on April 16, 2024. He was predeceased by his mother Joan Martin (1997) and his father Thomas Martin (Kim Dodwell) (2021).
He will be deeply missed by his loving sister, Terri Powell (nee Martin), and his nieces Megan and Brittany Powell. It is a tremendous loss for his treasured aunts, Gloria Martin, Brenda Ciolfi and Kim Rowe, his many beloved cousins, his friends who became more like brothers to him, Stephen Walsh and Allen Ngosi, and his cherished chosen son, Nicklalos (Lastic) Hall. Drew is also survived by his three sons, Nevin, Jaren and Brannon, whom he dearly loved and missed.
Drew was a big man with an even bigger, softer heart. When he talked, his whispering was boisterous! Always full of excitement.
He had an immense love for Jamaica that truly gave him happiness, peace and joy.
The 15 years Drew played hockey gave him many fond memories he often reminisced about. He enjoyed connecting with his old teammates, loving the nostalgia.
He loved deeply, and was deeply loved. Drew’s kindness, resilience and love for his family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished.
May he rest in eternal peace.
The Martin family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Monday, April 22 at from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A celebration of Drew's life will take place in the funeral home chapel at 11:00, cremation will follow. In leu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
