Shirley passed away peacefully at St. Andrew's Terrace in Cambridge on February 21, 2023. Her devoted husband of 62 years and her son Brian were at her side. Shirley was born 84 years ago in Listowel, a daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Hawthorne) Dickson and grew up on the family farm in Elma Township. Loving mother of Jeff and Nancy Potts of Lacombe, Brian Potts of Cambridge, the late Brent and Irene Potts of Cambridge (formerly of Uganda). Special grandma to Elissa, Jolene, Melina, Nadine, Justin, Ken , Isaac, Aaron, Adrian, and Alexis. Great-grandmother to Claire, Saddie, Elliott, David, Andrea, and Julian.

Also remembered by Audrey Little, Marie Semple, Angus and Jan Dickson, her in laws Ida and Larry O'Shaugnessy, Marilyn Potts, Pat McClement, Dave Hartung, Alan Hamilton, Susan and Ron Coughlin, several cousins, many nieces and nephews, long time friends Anne, Bob and Sandra Jiggins and God daughter Karen Jiggins Colorafi. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Lillian Dickson, in-laws Thomas and Ellen Potts and son Brent Potts. Also predeceased by in laws Murray Semple, Wallace Little, Beth and Leonard Lucas, Gladys and Clarence Newbigging, Jean Edgar, Margaret Hartung, Gerald and Heather Potts, Glenn McClement, Luella Hamilton and Bill and Denise Potts.

Shirley was a long time member of St. Paul's/Trillium United Church. She served faithfully in the church school and as a leader in the UCW for which she received a Life Membership Award. She graduated as an R.N. from South Waterloo School of Nursing and worked for some time at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in the E.R. and the O.R. as well as at Fairview Mennonite Home. We wish to thank the staff of St. Andrew's Terrace for their care and compassion.

Family and friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Friday, March 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will take place at Trillium United Church, 450 King Street East, Cambridge on Saturday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers donations to Trillium United Church or St. Andrew's Terrace would be appreciated by the family.
